
Thomas William Selleck is an American actor. His most recognizable part was as Thomas Magnum, a private investigator in the television series Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988), for whom he received five nominations for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead actor in a Drama Series. He won in 1985. In the TV series Blue Bloods, Selleck has appeared as Frank Reagan, New York City Police Commissioner. In nine television movies that are based on the Robert B. Parker novels the actor played Jesse Stone, a troubled small-town police chief, beginning in 2005. Selleck also played Peter Mitchell an architect who is a bachelor as well as a bachelor architecture student in Three Men and a Baby (1987), and Three Men and a Little Lady(1990). Alongside his appearances in Magnum, P.I., Selleck has appeared in over 50 films and television shows, which include the movies Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter and baseball. He was a frequent television actor playing Monica Geller's lover, Dr. Richard Burke, on Friends; Lance White, the likable, innocent partner, on The Rockford Files; and as A.J., the casino owner.
