Chaka Khan
Chaka Khan is an American musician and singer. Her name is also her infamous nickname, The Queen of Funk. Through her long career that has stretched over five decades, she has been awarded a total of 10 Grammys. Billboard listed her as the 65th most accomplished dancer ever. Born in Chicago, Illinois and introduced to jazz at an early age by her grandmother. In her early years, she was a member of various groups. Later on she was a part of the band Rufus. With the group, she recorded her first record when she was just twenty-one. One year later they won the first Grammy. The self-titled debut album just a couple of years following her debut solo album. Over the years, she released additional albums like "Echoes of an Era", "The Woman I Am" and one track called "Funk It". In addition to her contribution to the music industry, she also gained reputation through her charitable work. Chaka Khan Foundation, which she established in order to help those with autism, including children and adults and families in need. Khan has also worked as occasionally an actress. Khan played the character Sister Carrie in the show "Mama I'm Ready to Sing.'
