Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a public speech writer. Feminist Frequency was founded by Sarkeesian. The website hosts videos featuring commentary and analysis of gender representations in contemporary culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as blogger. She is the creator and director-general of Feminist Frequency A scholarly not-for-profit website which explores representations of women in pop media narratives. She's determined to dismantle stereotypes about women and how they are depicted in pop culture. Furthermore she has a mission to increase the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women, and other those who are marginalized. A graduate in social and political thought at York University Sarkeesian is also well-known as a sought-after presenter and has presented talks at the TEDxWomen XOXO festival and the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. She was fascinated by gender issues and feminism at a young stage of her life. In 2009, when she was still studying at university she launched the Feminist Frequency website. She was a young woman determined to make the series of videos on the internet to examine the gender representations in games. In the end, she ended up being the victim of online harassment. The attack wasn't enough to stop her. Instead, it increased her importance to being a feminist and a media critic.
